1. Find out how much your property is worth
You may have a ‘feel’ or ‘wish’ for a particular price but a Realtor will conduct a search of similar properties in the area that are on the market or have recently sold. The realtor may suggest ordering an appraisal. This will help you choose a fair marketable price.

2. Whip it into shape
Your Realtor will help you stage your property.

3. Marketing
Your Realtor will begin a marketing plan which will include placing your property on the MLS (Multiple Listing Service), where almost all homes are bought and sold.

4. Accept an offer
An offer includes both the price and terms. In some cases, terms can represent thousands of dollars in additional value—or additional costs—for buyers.

5. Inspections
Inspections will be carried out and a report delivered to the buyer and the realtor. Most inspections will include a home and pest inspection.

6. Closing
The closing process is the final step, usually carried out at a Title company where the property changes hands and the deed is filed.
